An elderly man has died after he was hit by a car on Queen’s Road last week.

Police have confirmed that Mr John Reidy (71) passed away last night in the Jersey General Hospital.

He was left in critical condition following a collision last Friday, which took place near to the entrance of Mount Edgcumbe Flats and involved a white Peugeot.

A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of diving without due care and driving whilst unfit in the wake of the accident.

Mr Reidy’s next of kin have been informed of his death, and Family Liaison Officers are supporting his family.

Police are now conducting an investigation into the collision, and a report will be submitted to the Deputy Viscount in due course.

They are now appealing to witnesses of the accident and ask anyone with any information to call 612612.
