ART FIX: Drag queens and running teams

Friday 24 March 2023

If this week has been 'dragging', you can celebrate the weekend with a Greatest Hits-themed drag and cabaret show on Saturday night, but just make sure you don't have too much fun if you're planning to take on the Hospice Half Marathon bright and early on Sunday morning...

Every weekend, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here's this week's offering...

Drag and Cabaret Show

Flair Entertainment's drag and cabaret show is back for the second time of 2023, with a night of live performances and a sprinkling of audience participation.

The theme is 'greatest hits' so attendees can expect some bigger and better performances of serious lip-sync, live vocals, slaying dance breaks, death drops, and of course the most stunning outfits.

The show is taking place at Chambers on Saturday 25 March, with tickets available via Eventbrite.

Digital arts competition

Guernsey_islands_art_comp.jpeg

Guernsey Arts will be running a digital-only art programme to run alongside the Island Games, with entries now open to people from all the participating islands.

The Islands Digital Arts Open is asking artists from Bermuda to Jersey to submit work with the theme of ‘islands’, which can be existing pieces or an original creation.

Submissions should explore the significance of an individuals’ island home, be it a dramatic viewpoint, an iconic landmark, emotive building, or an interpretation of a historic moment. These could include a photograph, short film, an animation, digital art, or high-resolution scan of physical work.

A chosen piece from each of the 24 islands will be replicated and exhibited in the George Crossan Gallery in the Market Buildings and showcased digitally on screens at various sporting venues in July.

Entries can be submitted online HERE until April 30.
