A centre linking Jersey to its Norman roots has started selling a line of French treats just in time for Christmas.
Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche – the Channel Island representatives of two French local authorities – have opened a retail section in their St. Helier centre so that islanders can get a taste of Normandy this Christmas.

The Maison was established in 1995 to promote commercial, cultural and linguistic exchange between Jersey and its neighbouring Normandy region.
It offers information about the two French councils that it represents – the Normandy region and the County Council of la Manche – for people looking to visit those areas or wanting to participate in any exchanges there.

Now, they’ve added a retail offering so that islanders can treat themselves to authentic, “carefully picked” products from Normandy.
Commenting on adding this line of products to their centre, Jean-Marc Julienne, Chairman of Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche, said: “This shop will allow Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche to promote even further Normandie and la Manche and will provide an extra service to people in Jersey, offering access to quality Norman products, but also, in the future, to additional services.”

The new produce is being stocked in the centre as the Maison gears up for its annual Norman Market selling French food, drink and gifts at the Weighbridge, which will run from 13 to 16 December.
