A new series of guitar-based gigs aimed at enriching the local music scene with events that prioritise local talent are set to launch next month.
The first 'Fest in the West' event will feature six bands at the Pomme D'Or Hotel on 13 April, with profits being reinvested into production and shared among performers.
Event organiser Greg Winch said that he hopes to work with other promoters, venues, artists, and bands in the future to make the grassroots Jersey music scene "as vibrant and exciting as possible".
The lineup for the first event includes headliners 88 Bunkface, known for their punky energetic performances, as well as other local acts such as Gunslinger, Without Captain, Kickbacks, Jaded Things, and an acoustic set by Lexi of August Gone.
Despite plans for the gig at the Rugby Club, unforeseen circumstances led to a venue change to the Pomme D'Or Hotel's Golden Apple suite — hence why the event is called 'Fest in the West – Comes to Town!'
Mr Winch explained: "Our concept is to launch a series of events that combine the talents of local artists with the highest production values to bring a show that works for everyone but with a focus on guitar-based music.
"We want events that work for the venue as it brings numbers, for the artists as it brings atmosphere and a stage to showcase their talents and, most importantly, for the audience as it brings joy and experience.
"As organisers we are not making any profit from our events, preferring to divert any funds raised into the production, staging and splitting any profit between the other artists on the bill."
Adam True of headline act 88 Bunkface, said: "While the venue is hardly west, it was great the organisers managed to such an amazing alternative venue for the same date at such short notice!
"The Golden Apple suite actually a fantastic room, and Stage 2 are going to be providing sound and lighting, so it should be a blast!
"There's a ton of awesome bands playing and it's now in the heart of town so I'm expecting a massive turnout, [we] can't wait!"
Mr Winch said that Spring is proving to be an exciting time for live events in Jersey, with a variety of gigs lined up for the Blue Note, St James Bar, and The Royal Jersey Showground, organised by different local promoters and event organisers including Rat City Promotions, Jersey Music Association, Vale Earth Fair, Bubblebrain Records, and Island Music.
