A short hearing took place to allow a family funeral to proceed, and the inquest was subsequently adjourned while further enquiries into what happened take place.

Many islanders paid tribute to Mr Dean after he was identified by Jersey Police earlier this month.

On Facebook, he was described as a "lovely bloke" and "a legend".

"Norman was a pleasure to know you all the best ones are taken first," one commenter wrote.

Another added: "A genuine nice chap and one hell of a character, you will be sorely missed by many."

Flowers and messages have also been left near the site of the collision.
