Man arrested after 'dog fight' leads to serious face injuries

Tuesday 16 July 2019

A 40-year-old dog walker has been arrested for grave and criminal assault after an alleged "heated" fight over their hounds led another owner to suffer severe facial injuries.

Police said the man remains on bail while they continue their inquiries about the alleged assault that occurred in the parkland area of Pont Marquet Country Park in St. Brelade on Friday 12 July between 20:00 and 21:00.

In an appeal for information from members of the public, Police described the reported attack: "Two men, both walking their dogs became embroiled in a heated verbal argument with each other regarding control of the dogs.

"This escalated into an alleged assault whereby one of the men, aged 49, sustained facial injuries that required medical treatment. An ambulance was called and the man was taken to hospital."
