Local franchisee Tony Bennett and the crew from the McDonald’s restaurant on Halkett Street recently gave up their time to clean up the local area, collecting six bags of rubbish on a six kilometres walk.

The group, which consisted of staff members and managers, embarked on the challenge to give the area surrounding the restaurant a tidy.

The team walked for six kilometres in total collecting six bags of rubbish. Starting from Halkett Street, they covered Snow Hill Car Park, La Rue De L'Est, South Hill Park, South Pier, North Quay, Waterfront, Les Jardins De La Mer, Gloucester Street, Parade Gardens, York Street, King Street and Queen Street before heading back to the restaurant.

McDonald’s franchisee Tony Bennett, who acquired the St Helier restaurant franchise at the end of last year, said: “I was really proud to see everyone come together and help tidy up the area around the restaurant. It’s a key priority of ours to ensure that the local area remains free of litter and an enjoyable place to live, work and visit.

"This is the first large scale litter pick we’ve conducted since I acquired this St Helier restaurant, and myself and my staff look forward to continuing our good work here. As a business we understand the important role that we play in making the area a cleaner place for everyone.”
