Parish vehicle damaged by ‘flaming bottle’

Wednesday 04 May 2022

A vehicle owned by St. Saviour was damaged after two people threw flaming glass bottles around the Parish Hall car park.

Police said the potential breach of the Fire Service Law occurred between 21:05 and 21:10 on Monday (2 May).

"Two suspects were seen to run down the hill into the car park of St. Saviour's Parish Hall each carrying what appeared to be a glass bottle on fire," officers explained.

"The bottles were thrown across the carpark, one hit the floor in flames and the other hit a parish vehicle, causing some damage and then fell to the floor in flames. Both bottles burnt out and no one was harmed or injured.

"The persons responsible ran back up St Saviours Hill in the direction of Five Oaks.

"Cars were seen to drive past the Parish Hall at the time of the incident and Police would like to speak with anyone who was driving in that area at that time."

Anyone who saw what happened or who has more information is urged to contact Police on 612612 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via its anonymous online form.
