Process begins to put murderer’s home back on rental market

Tuesday 20 September 2022

The process has begun to bring a property rented by a convicted murderer back onto the rental market after three years of lying empty.

Andium commenced eviction proceedings Court against Jamie Lee Warn on Wednesday 31 August in the Petty Debts Court.

Warn killed Hungary-born chambermaid Zsuzsanna Besenyei at his Pomme d'Or Farm flat at First Tower in 2018, before leaving her body at Stinky Bay to make it look like a suicide.

He was found guilty of murder the following year and again at a re-trial in 2020, but was granted a third retrial in 2021. Again, he was found guilty, and sentenced to life imprisonment earlier this year.

Since Mr Warn was first charged four years ago, the Andium-owned flat has remained empty – only accessed by investigators and jurors during the trial. While Mr Warn has been in custody since the beginning of the case, it has remained his registered address.

The Petty Debts Court, presided by Magistrate Bridget Shaw, heard the case of Mr Warn at the end of last month.

An eviction was ordered for Mr Warn and he was given 14 days to organise the removal of his movable property before the eviction is executed.

The eviction order also included payment of outstanding rent at the time of arrest and costs.

The 14-day period expires tomorrow, and keys should subsequently be handed back to Andium, which hopes to bring the property back onto the market after assessing whether any works need to be undertaken.
