82 candidates have been nominated for Guernsey’s general election in June.
15 candidates were nominated today – the final day that forms are being accepted by the Bailiff’s Chambers.
45 were nominated on Monday and 22 on Tuesday meaning 82 will be on the ballot sheets when registered voters have their say this summer.
The official election date is 18 June – but ‘super polling stations’ will be open before that, with some voters opting for a postal ballot.

Of those who were nominated on the third day, four are sitting deputies, one is a former Deputy seeking re-election.
At least three have stood for election to the States previously and at least two are current or former parish politicians.
The rest of the candidates nominated today are believed to be political new-comers.
None of the candidates nominated today are affiliated to a political party.

In 2020, the first island wide poll saw 119 candidates nominated in total, with one withdrawing on medical grounds before the election.
