Marks & Spencers has confirmed that some customers’ personal data was taken during a recent hack – with the Guernsey franchise advising customers to follow advice shared by the UK firm.

In a statement shared via social media, the retail giant confirmed that the stolen data does not include useable card or payment details and that “there is no evidence that the information has been shared”.

However, customers need to reset passwords to use their M&S accounts.

The cyber attack happened last month, impacting deliveries to M&S stores across the British Isles including in Guernsey.

The local franchise is managed through Creasey’s but the stores all stock M&S goods exclusively.

The UK firm had to pause some services, including online orders, while it dealt with the fallout from the hack.

Some M&S stores have also been missing certain food items, but the majority are now reported to be freely available again.
