The GSPCA relies on volunteers – both regular and occasional help – with the charity celebrating their efforts all year round.
Manager Steve Byrne said collectively they make an “incredible contribution” to the work carried out at Guernsey’s animal shelter and across the island throughout the year – but he wanted to highlight them all during Volunteers’ Week.

“Volunteers’ Week is a fantastic opportunity for us to say a huge thank you to the incredible people who give their time to support the GSPCA,” he said.
“We are so lucky to have such a dedicated group of volunteers who are an essential part of our amazing team, helping us care for animals day and night.
“Whether it’s walking dogs, helping at reception, supporting events, or assisting with animal care, our volunteers make a real difference every single day. We would love to welcome more people to join us, and our induction evening is the perfect opportunity to find out how you can get involved.”
For those unable to attend the induction evening, further information and the volunteer application form can be found online at gspca.org.gg/about/volunteers
Mr Byrne said the GSPCA encourages anyone with a love of animals and a desire to help to get involved, and become part of a team that plays a vital role in animal welfare across Guernsey.
“To find out more you can email us via stevejbyrne@gspca.org.gg or call 257261.”
Corporate days are also available, he added, with a long list of businesses having already contributed time and effort to animals in Guernsey including BNP Paribas and Howdens among them.
