As a five year anniversary approaches for Guernsey’s ‘Drink and Draw’ group, members flocked down to Les Joannet beach for a special version of their life drawing events.

22 artists attended earlier this week, with the event’s organiser, Caitlin Grupping, pleased with the its supportive atmosphere.

“Drink & Draw has grown to be such a diverse, supportive and uplifting community,” she said.

“Our 2025 event saw 22 people make the journey along the cliff, down the ladder and across the boulders to join in for an hour’s drawing in the most idyllic setting. It is one of those moments that makes you deeply appreciative to live in Guernsey.”

She added: “Unfortunately the beach is difficult to access, so I’m toying with the idea of chartering a boat so everyone who wants to come can make it!”

The local art club is celebrating its fifth anniversary with a community exhibition later this year, where artists will be encouraged to submit any work created during a ‘Drink & Draw’ session by the end of September. Submissions can include drawings from any of the sessions including the Wednesday group, beach events, corporate sessions, and hen dos.

The exhibition will open to the public on Saturday 11 October at the George Crossan Gallery, with support from Guernsey Arts.
