Response: The Split Collective at the Gate House Gallery and St Peter’s Church

“An artwork is not complete until it is received by others. Art lives in our
response. The spectator, the listener, is as important as the doer.” – Helen Martineau, Prodigal Daughters.

The Rectory at St Peter’s Church and the Gate House Gallery are pleased to present
Response, an exhibition of painting and sculpture by the Split Collective.
A response is a reply, an answer, a reaction. It implies correspondence, connection,
conversation. A response, be it an affirmation, a question, a defence or rebuttal, can be the building block of a meaningful relationship, an opportunity for enlightenment or just the chance to engage in playful banter. The eighty-odd works of sculpture, painting, drawing and print by forty-four artists which make up Response are an eclectic, original mix that reflects a robust exchange of ideas, thoughts and possibilities and an invitation to join a larger conversation.

Opening Times:
Rectory at St Peter’s Church, 31st May to 16th August, weekends only, 10am to 4pm.
Gate House Gallery, 6th and 7th June, 10am-4pm

The public and the visiting artists are invited to explore the garden and the meadow surrounding the Rectory. The gardens are 150 years old and the meadow, which is glebe land, has been extant for many centuries. Still very much a work in progress, it is a place to feed the soul.

Art at the Park: ‘Form’ by Caitlin Grupping

The National Trust of Guernsey’s Art at the Park Gallery is delighted to be hosting Caitlin Grupping’s first solo art exhibition entitled ‘Form’.

The exhibition runs from Tuesday the 9th of June until Friday the 3rd of July between 10am and 5pm daily. (Please be aware that the exhibition will close at 2pm on the final day.) The Gallery has free entry and is accessible friendly!

Caitlin Grupping is well known in the local art circles as the organiser of the ‘drink and draw’ life drawing club at the Golden Lion in St. Peter Port. She is an accomplished artist herself and has submitted paintings and drawings to a selection of mixed exhibitions. This is her first opportunity to display her own talent in linocut printing, oils and textiles. Mainly based around the human form, Caitlin’s detailed patterns and simplified line forms show a masterful skill in expressing the life drawn figure. She also enjoys the strong use of colour in her work.
