Immortal Divine: A Collection of paintings by Christina Stagg

An exciting new painting exhibition opened at the Chamber of Commerce this Thursday the 7th May!

Running until Friday the 7th August, Immortal Divine is an exhibition of seven heavenly-inspired paintings by local artist Christina Stagg. Drawing on the language of the Old Masters, Christina references Medieval and Renaissance techniques in the form of egg tempera on gesso panels.

The luminosity and translucency of the paints and medium translate perfectly into her other major preoccupations and influences, namely the balance and symbolism of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and the discipline of the Neoclassical movement.

This collection celebrates the enduring relevance of traditional practice while
allowing it to evolve in new and meaningful ways.

Christina left the UK thirty years ago to work in Guernsey as a compliance
professional. Since leaving corporate finance a year ago, she now works as a non-
executive director for the Guernsey Arts Commission and is a full-time painter.

A law graduate from the University of Exeter and winner of the prestigious Drawing
Prize from Wimbledon School of Art, Christina also spent a year working as an
assistant valuer at Bonhams Fine Art Auctioneers in London, specialising in Oriental
ceramics and works of art, before relocating to Guernsey.

The collection, Immortal Divine, marks Christina’s first solo exhibition in Guernsey.
The main aim of the exhibition is to ignite a revival of interest in the traditions and
divinity of Renaissance inspired art, and in the language of the Old Masters through
craftsmanship and technique.

The exhibition can be viewed at the Chamber of Commerce from the 7th May – 7th August 2026
