Island Photographic Clubs Exhibition
The Island Photographic Clubs Exhibition (IPCE ‘26) is a joint venture between the three Guernsey photographic clubs (Spectrum, Guernsey Photographic Club & Prism), which have come together to create their second combined exhibition, which showcases the best of the island’s club photography. It also celebrates this, the bicentenary of photography, with an overview of the history since 1826 (when the oldest surviving photograph by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, ‘View from the Window at Le Gras’ was produced) and a selection of old Guernsey photographs.

Andy Weatherburn, president of Spectrum said: “Our team from the three clubs, has worked over several months to bring together all the elements for this exhibition. We are very grateful for a grant from Guernsey Arts and sponsorship from the three clubs and their members. We are also grateful to Candie Museum, the Priaulx Library and the States Archives for allowing us to use a selection of their old Guernsey photographs.”
Nigel Byrom, president of Guernsey Photographic Club said: “We hope that by bringing the three photographic clubs together with a common purpose, we can not only further closer cooperation but promote club photography in the Island, and at the same time promote the printed image. There has never been a time when photography has been so ubiquitous, yet the printed image so rarely seen.”
This exhibition will complement the support and promotion of photography by Guernsey Arts, the Artist in Residence programme, Art for Guernsey, the Guernsey Photography Festival and the Guernsey Eisteddfod.
“This initiative in its second year, promotes club photography and the printed image, in what we hope will continue to be an annual event.”
Opening this Friday the 12th of June, you can check out the exhibition between 9am – 5pm at the George Crossan Gallery within the Inner Market! Free admission.
Art at the Park: ‘Form’ by Caitlin Grupping
It’s a great week for exhibitions, as ‘Form’ by Caitlin Grupping enters its second week at The National Trust of Guernsey’s Art at the Park Gallery!

The exhibition runs until Friday the 3rd of July, open between 10am and 5pm daily. (Please be aware that the exhibition will close at 2pm on the final day.) The Gallery has free entry and is accessible friendly!
Caitlin Grupping is well known in the local art circles as the organiser of the ‘drink and draw’ life drawing club at the Golden Lion in St. Peter Port. She is an accomplished artist herself and has submitted paintings and drawings to a selection of mixed exhibitions. This is her first opportunity to display her own talent in linocut printing, oils and textiles. Mainly based around the human form, Caitlin’s detailed patterns and simplified line forms show a masterful skill in expressing the life drawn figure. She also enjoys the strong use of colour in her work.
LAST CHANCE: Making an Honest Living – Emma Griffin & James Kail
The Making an Honest Living exhibition is a celebration of the growing industry in Guernsey, and this week is your last chance to enjoy it!

The exhibition, adorning the walls of the Greenhouse Gallery within Guernsey Museum at Candie, comes to an end this Sunday the 14th of June.
Through this show, Emma Griffin and James Kail have celebrated the grass roots of the land in an eclectic, universal manner, combining traditional painting methods with contemporary abstract works to question and highlight a dying industry and decaying roots.
The exhibition includes multiple interactive works, including a printed map of Guernsey by Digimaps, where Emma allowed people to put a sticker on their family or personal greenhouses, and write a story on the potting table.
Another engaging piece is James’ ‘Mefi-ous A Lane (beware of the donkey), a mixed media assemblage utilising found objects and materials from deteriorating vineries. This assemblage took form as a hedge veg, where James created an honesty box, selling zines looking at the cultural and environmental significance of roadside stalls, interviewing and recording sellers’ perspectives and documenting the changes in time and materials of the quaint commerce.
Guernsey-born painter and printmaker, Emma Griffin has been researching the Guernsey growing industry since the idea came to her in 2023, whilst she was invigilating an exhibition by Alberta Whittle, at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. The theme of the exhibition was focused on identity, which led Emma to explore her own origin story.
Candie museum is open from 10am-5pm. Normal admission applies, free to discovery pass holders.
Fox Art Competition 2026: Submissions open!
Submissions for the prestigious Fox Art Competition 2026 are now open!

The Fox Open Art Competition was originally conceived in 1983 by the then managing director of JJ Fox International Limited, the late Jock Russell, as a competition to raise the profile of the newly constructed Jersey Arts Centre. It quickly caught the imagination of the island’s community and when in 1990 St James’ in Guernsey also agreed to take part it mushroomed into a full Channel Island event. Now 30 years on it has produced winners from Jersey and Guernsey as well as runners up and highly commended work from Alderney and Sark. Household names like Jason Butler, Rob Sweeney, Ian Rolls, Larry Ham and Molly Harris are all past winners of “the Fox”.
Jock Russell’s original concept was to encourage amateur artists rather than professionals and over the years the competition has remained loyal to this vision. The judging process is a professional and rigorous procedure with internationally renowned artists from outside the islands chosen to decide on the winners. Former judges include Patrick Heron, Ken Howard, Leonard Rosoman, Terry Frost and Clive Hicks-Jenkins.
Every year the competition attracts over 200 entries with an age range between 12 and 80 years. Paintings, prints and collages are accepted, works have to be framed and mounted and must not exceed 1M².
Artists can enter online by completing our online application form and submitting photographs of their artwork. Deadline Tuesday 8th September at 5pm.
