Le French Festival
This October, Le French Festival returns to the Islands of Guernsey, with a host of French themed activities, music, food, films and even an Opera. Experience Guernsey’s culture first hand with a French influence. Taking place from Tues 10 Oct – Sun 15 Oct, come and enjoy a taste of France right here in the Islands.
As part of Le French Festival 2023, join us for a series of free musical events celebrating the coming together of French and Guernsey musicians including a heavy night of metal at the Vault with Tranzat, psychedelia at the Yacht with KALAC, beautiful performances at the OGH and something a little more traditional at various locations
Why not head to a free screening of “L’Elixir d’Amour” – an opera of great tenderness. This screening is organised thanks to a partnership with the Opéra de Rennes and Guernsey Arts, as part of “Opera on screen(s)”, a project aiming at making Opera accessible to a wider audience. The Opera will be in Italian with French subtitles.
There are also exhibitions to be enjoyed with the Renoir in Guernsey, 1883 exhibition, celebrating the 140th anniversary of his stay in Guernsey, with many of his works returning to where they were first painted.

Art in the Park: Bunkers, Beach Stripes and Ices by Jeni Snell
If you missed their recent ‘Kiosk 1’ exhibition at Sula Gallery, don’t miss your opportunity to view Jeni Snell’s varied range of artwork at the amazing ‘Art in the Park’ Gallery, situated in the Folk and Costume Museum on the grounds of the serene Saumarez Park.
‘Jeni Snell is a British London-based multidisciplinary visual artist. Jeni attended La Houguette School which was built on top of redundant WW1 German gun battery Mirus – which brought the opposing dynamics of ‘childhood innocence’ and ‘architecture of war’ together within the playground.’
The bright and vibrant exhibition features both paintings and sculpture work. ‘These playful juxtapositions undermine the war-machine because this architecture of war can no longer harm us, standing idle, defeated by nature and the passing of time – the seaside reclaimed by leisure pursuits.’
This exhibition is open from the 10 til the 29 of October, it is free admission and fully accessible.
