Work is underway on the Road Resurfacing Project, a States of Alderney initiative forming part of a wider five-year, with a £1.75 million commitment.

The aim is to move from a reactive to a proactive approach to road maintenance, ensuring the island’s roads remain in good condition in a cost-effective way.

Earlier this year Ronez Limited was selected as the contractor after a tendering process, and now work is underway, as a new, mobile Parker TransMix 1000 asphalt plant has been set up at Mannez Quarry.

The States claim this location was chosen for its size, good access, and because it is already well-screened from public view.

The main roadworks are planned for late August and throughout September 2025, lasting approximately one month, though this is weather-dependent.

The government states that the plant and roadworks will operate during daylight hours only, typically from 07:30 to 18:00.

While there may be up to 15 truckloads per day transporting asphalt, the States of Alderney has a system to provide information on road closures or diversions to minimise disruption.

The States of Alderney says the specific roads to be resurfaced in 2025 were chosen based on a methodology that considered their current condition, whether they are main arterial routes, and if they have been previously dug up for utility work.
