The man who allegedly told a Guernsey nightclub there was a bomb threat has had the charge reduced to acting in a “disorderly manner”.

Francesco Biancu entered a not guilty plea against the new charge when he appeared in court on Monday morning.

The Magistrate’s Court has loosened the 33-year-old restaurant worker’s conditional bail, and told him to return to court on 26 August.

Mr Biancu had allegedly told someone that there was an explosive device inside Les Folies D’Amour night club in the early hours of Sunday 10 May.

Other businesses along the North Esplanade, including takeaways and bars, also had to close early on the night, as police officers launched a search.

All staff and guests inside the club and other businesses were safely evacuated.
