Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has been remanded in custody until the end of the month when his case is expected to be committed to the Royal Court.

He appeared via video link in Guernsey’s Magistrates’ Court this afternoon for his third remand hearing.

The 61-year-old politician and pastor has been charged with numerous crimes, including making indecent images of children, the possession of “extremely pornographic images”, and offences relating to the “misuse of telecommunications”.

The telecommunication charge includes sending messages and images of an indecent nature via X (formerly Twitter).

Deputy Le Tocq was last seen in court on 15 September, when he was remanded in to custody for a second month while Guernsey Police continued their investigations into his alleged activities.

The former Chief Minister was first arrested in July on suspicion of telecommunication offences. He was released on police bail while investigations continued at that time.

He was charged with numerous telecommunication and sexual offences in August and he was remanded into custody when he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court that same day.

Magistrate Gary Perry said at the time that it was likely the case would have to be committed to the Royal Court, which has a higher sentencing power, due to the nature of the crimes Deputy Le Tocq is accused of committing.

He has been held at Les Nicolles Prison ever since.

By the time his Royal Court committal hearing is held on 29 October, Deputy Le Tocq will have spent nearly three months behind bars.
