Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has been remanded into custody for another two weeks.

He appeared in person today before Judge Gary Perry in Guernsey’s Magistrate’s Court.

Deputy Le Tocq been charged with numerous crimes, including making indecent images of children, the possession of “extremely pornographic images”, and offences relating to the “misuse of telecommunications”.

It’s been exactly 100 days since the former Chief Minister was first arrested in July on suspicion of telecommunication offences. He was released on police bail while investigations continued at that time.

He was charged with numerous telecommunication and sexual offences in August and he was remanded into custody when he appeared before the Magistrate’s Court that same day.

Since then the former Chief Minister of Guernsey has spent 68 days at Les Nicolls Prison.

He was initially remanded in custody for his own protection, for his family’s protection, and as a precaution to prevent the Pastor from leaving the island.

It was extended to give officers more time to investigate his alleged crimes, and it was expected that he would be committed to the Royal Court during today’s hearing.

In today’s hearing Magistrate Gary Perry said Deputy Le Tocq had been re-remanded for two weeks for the same reasons as previously given.

Earlier this year, Policy & Resources attempted to remove him from his role as Lead for External Relations, before he resigned from the political committee.

Whilst one of the church communities most closely associated with Deputy Jonathan Le Tocq has said his paid work with them is under review.
