Guernsey placed well, picking up third overall behind Jersey in second, and the hosts of the 2027 games, first placed Faroe Islands.

The Green side of the Channel Islands picked up 59 medals in total, (16 less than Jersey, and 21 behind fourth placed Isle of Man), with 20 Golds, 19 Silver and 20 Bronze medals.

A major chunk of those medals came from the swimming team, picking up a third of the islands medal total, (20), with impressive showings in Athletics, (15), Cycling, (9), and Guernsey’s Lawn Bowls team picking up nothing but gold, (2).

Sadly both Alderney and Sark ended this year’s games medal-less.

Congratulations to participating teams, and thanks for everyone involved from volunteers, to staff and those who came down to watch have been flowing on social media.

The hosts, Orkney stating; “We want to say an enormous thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. In the end it took nearly 1000 folk to make Orkney 2025 happen. You are all amazing!”

The next Island Games are due to take place in the Faroe Islands in 2027.
