A political member of Economic Development has rejoined the board of Guernsey Finance.
Deputy Rhona Humphreys has joined the organisation, along with Glen Tonks who is the Head of UBS in Guernsey and Chair of the local Institute of Directors branch.
There will be one more non-executive director appointed in the coming months, following a three-month recruitment process.
Resignations of senior staff and an independent investigation at the arms-length promotional body, led the States to pledge to strengthen political oversight of Guernsey Finance, which is mainly funded by taxpayers, following its recent video scandal and subsequent negative headlines in the local and national media.
Mr Tonks has nearly 30-years of experience in the financial services industry across the Channel Islands, Asia and Australasia.
He also has been appointed as an independent Director of Guernsey Finance.
Deputy Humphreys was elected to the States this year and also has three decades worth of experience in the private wealth and fiduciary sectors.
Paul Sykes, Chair of Guernsey Finance, said these “industry stalwarts” would “be invaluable as the Board continues to guide the organisation’s work and support its objectives in key markets.
“Glen and Rhona each bring a wealth of experience from across the global financial services sector, and their appointment reflects the calibre of expertise within Guernsey’s industry.
“I’m really looking forward to working with them as we continue to advance Guernsey’s position as a leading international finance centre.”
