The Guernsey Institute is visiting Alderney this week, as part of ongoing work by the Education & Skills Development Working Group to better understand the island’s future education, training and skills needs.
The visit, from Monday to Wednesday, will provide an opportunity to engage with invited representatives of local businesses, organisations and individuals and explore the challenges facing learners and employers, future skills requirements and potential training opportunities in Alderney.
Veronica Taylor, Chair of the Education & Skills Development Working Group, said: “Working collaboratively with The Guernsey Institute and the States of Guernsey provides an important opportunity for Alderney, but it is equally important that we understand what our own community needs.
“The ability to identify Alderney responses to the survey will help us build a clearer picture of the skills, education and training opportunities that would be most valuable locally.
“I would encourage residents, businesses and organisations to take a few minutes to complete the survey and help inform this work.”
A particular focus will be micro-credentials – short, flexible qualifications designed to develop specific skills or competencies and support people looking to upskill or reskill.
Residents, businesses and organisations are being encouraged to complete The Guernsey Institute’s online Micro-Credentials Survey, which closes on Friday 11 September.
