Guernsey-based author, R.J. Verity is holding a book signing for her debut historical novel, Poole of Light, at Writer’s Block this Saturday.
The novel is the first in The Poole Legacy trilogy, with a prequel story, ‘Bright Light’, available for free through her website, HERE.
Both the paperback and e-book versions of this full debut novel were released earlier this week.

Poole of Light is set between 1913 and the Second World War and follows a character named Jeremiah ‘Jem’ Poole, a boy from a northern English mining town.
The author says the story explores themes of identity and memory as Jem’s life is changed by moving pictures and his journey through war and reinvention.
R.J Verity is the pen-name of Ruth Thomason, who was born and raised in Yorkshire, before studying at King’s College London, and has over twenty years experience working in financial services across Asia.
Now fully embracing island life in Guernsey, Mrs Thomason says when she’s not reading or writing, she “can often be found exploring the island’s rugged coastline”.
Her book signing takes place between 14:00 and 16:00.
