More than 200 people have already signed up for a 10k run to support islanders struggling with their mental health, which is taking place next month – and this year swapping its usual course for a scenic coastal stretch.
The Guernsey Mind Investec 10K Challenge is returning on Sunday 31 August.
The theme this year is challenging yourself, and everyone from beginners to ‘couch to 5k’-ers or more experienced runners chasing a PB are invited to get involved.
Participants are allowed to walk, run or a mix of both – whatever suits their style.
Events Lead Amanda Hibbs said the team were “really excited” about the new route, which will this year start at the Imperial Hotel before heading along the coast to finish at Grandes Rocques.
“It’s a lovely, coastal route and is relatively flat,” she said.
Guernsey Athletics Club is lending their expertise to ensure a smooth and enjoyable event, and the Imperial Hotel and Stagecoach are also helping us immensely”.

She gave particular praise to sponsor Investec, which has a number of staff getting behind the event – both as runners and volunteers, as Emily Dawson explained.
“This event appeals to all ages and skill levels. Whether you’re new to running or want to challenge yourself to a longer distance or a better time, it’s a hugely rewarding experience. We’re proud to support again, with Investec staff volunteering to help marshal the event and ensure everything runs smoothly,” she said.
Ms Hibbs also thanked the Guernsey Athletics Club for lending their expertise to event organisation, the Imperial Hotel and Stagecoach.
“The 10K Challenge raises vital awareness of mental health. Exercise benefits not just our bodies, but our minds too. We hope this event inspires people to get moving with a clear goal in sight,” she said.
