Her Royal Highness, Princess Anne will be in Guernsey today to mark the 80th anniversary of the island’s liberation, before travelling to Sark tomorrow for its Liberation Day.

The Princess Royal will be accompanied by her husband; Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, as she represents His Majesty The King at events across both islands.

Her Royal Highness will make history during her two day visit to the Bailiwick – as she will become the first member of the British Royal Family to make an official visit to Little Sark.

Her busy schedule will start with inspecting Guernsey’s Liberation Day Church Parade, before giving a reading during the Church Service.

HRH will meet members of the public, including members of the war time generation in St Peter Port, before going to L’Eree where she will meet more people who were occupied, evacuated or deported.

It has also been arranged for HRH and Sir Tim to meet veterans, island dignitaries, and the organisers and volunteers who have put on the island’s commemorative and celebratory events.
