The Governor of Guensey’s prison is stepping aside from his job “on a temporary basis” following allegations made about his conduct.
A spokesperson said John De Carteret had agreed to the move while an investigation takes places.
Civil Service Head Boley Smillie said: “Matters will be investigated fully and fairly and no one should draw any conclusion from the Prison Governor’s decision to temporarily step aside.
“I will provide an update once the investigation has concluded but will offer no further
comment.”
Deputy Governor Tracey Mahy is taking over Mr De Carteret’s role in the interim.
