GADOC is planning to fill the island with laughter this autumn, performing Mel Brooks’ multi-award-winning musical comedy ‘The Producers’.

Renowned in the theatre world, the comedy is said to be “bursting with razor-sharp wit and off-the-wall characters”.

The Guernsey Amateur Dramatic & Operatic Club said “this side-splitting show promises a riot of fun for theatre-goers”.

‘The Producers’ follows washed-up Broadway producer Max Bialystock and anxious accountant Leo Bloom as they hatch a get-rich-quick scheme.

They plan to stage the ‘worst musical ever’, close it on opening night and pocket the investors’ cash.

Their hunt for a “surefire flop” leads them to ‘Springtime for Hitler’, which, on paper, guarantees disaster.

What follows is a madcap scramble involving flamboyant Broadway director Roger De Bris, free-spirited Swedish starlet Ulla, and an ex-Nazi playwright who has swapped goose-stepping for…pigeons?

Bringing this satirical spectacle to life are some of Guernsey’s most talented performers, brought together by the creative husband-and-wife team of Mike Sullivan-Pugh and Lydia Sullivan-Pugh.
