Guernsey’s new football venue, Victoria Park has chosen the Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association as its very first charity partner.
They’ll be working together throughout the 2025/2026 football season on various activities to raise money and spread awareness.
To start the relationship, volunteers from the charity attended on Muratti Day and, thanks to those watching the game, they raised an impressive £4,200.
Victoria Park Director, Rob Jones said this shows its commitment to being a welcoming community hub by supporting such an important local cause.
“We’re delighted to announce Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association as our chosen charity partner for the 2025/2026 season.
“The commitment and dedication of everyone involved in the charity is vital to supporting those affected by the disease, and we’re proud to be playing our small part in helping raise vital funds and awareness for all islanders affected by the disease.”
The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association, which started in 2009, offers crucial support to islanders dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Staff and volunteers work with Health and Social Care to provide information, advice, companionship, and support specifically for carers and former carers of those affected by these diseases.
Julie Thompson, the Charities Manager, says support like this helps them carry out that vital work.
“The Guernsey Alzheimer’s Association is privileged to be chosen as the inaugural charity for Victoria Park and are looking forward to working together on various initiatives over the next 12 months.
“Support from organisations like this is crucial in enabling our charity to continue assisting all those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. Thank you!”
