Daniel Francis O’Connell (67) appeared in the Magistrates Court today to be formally indicted on three charges of assault, grave and criminal assault and using threatening and abusive words.

The charges all relate to an alleged incident in New Street, St Helier, on 15 March this year.

There was no application for bail, and the case – presided over by the Deputy Bailiff Tim Le Cocq QC and two Jurats – has now been adjourned, and will return to Court in two weeks.

Mr O’Connell, who appeared in a green and white stripe Celtic football t-shirt, will remain in custody.
