Ana Pereira de Sousa Rebelo (51) was found dead in her Victoria Street home in early April. Police soon after confirmed that they were treating the case as a murder, and that she had died from “compression to the neck by a third party”.
In the months following, two suspects were arrested and interviewed – a 58-year-old man and a 25-year-old – but neither were charged.
Police confirmed today that both had returned for further interviews, and that the 58-year-old remains on police bail. The 25-year-old, however, has been released.
In a statement, the Police described the investigation as “complex” and maintained that they were “working closely with the Law Officer’s Department.
They’re now in the process of preparing a file for consideration by the Department, but a decision is not expected “for a couple of months.”
