Enquiries are ongoing following an alleged attempted murder in Guernsey.

One person was “urgently transferred to hospital” on Sunday, where they remained in a “serious but stable condition” on Monday morning, confirmed a spokesperson for Guernsey Police.

A 20-year-old woman remains in custody today, after being arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning on suspicion of attempted murder.

The exact timings, what happened, and where, is all unknown at this time, as Guernsey Police continue their investigations.

Throughout Sunday, crime scene investigators were “carrying out work” at a property “in the area of Victoria Avenue”.

An increased police presence was seen in the area, but Detective Superintendent Jonathan Bancroft assured the public that there was no need to worry.

“Incidents of this nature are thankfully very rare occurrences in Guernsey, and I’d like to take this opportunity to reassure islanders that we are not currently searching for any further suspects,” he said. “There is no information at present that suggests any wider risk.”

Any witnesses or anyone with information is urged to make contact with Guernsey Police or Crimestoppers, added DS Bancroft.

“Enquiries are now ongoing, and anyone with any relevant information is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department by calling 01481 222 222, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
