Every week, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.

Here’s this week’s offering…

Bloom at Jersey Zoo

Islanders can view an art installation featuring a colourful meadow made up of thousands of flower sculptures at Jersey Zoo.

Bloom, which features six of Gerald Durrell’s favourite flowers, is due to run until the end of September.

Each sculpture represents the Jersey Zoo founder’s legacy and how one person’s achievements can flourish into something far greater and wide-reaching.

Bloom can be found in Les Augrès Manor’s courtyard.

Entry is free for Durrell members, but normal Jersey Zoo admissions apply for non-members.

Bubbletecture

A new public art installation made up of 8m-tall iridescent spheres opened this week in the centre of St Helier.

Bubbletecture will transform the footprint of IFC2 on the Esplanade until Sunday 14 September.

The immersive exhibition responds to sunlight, and is paired with a bespoke soundtrack and lighting effects that run from 09:3 to 21:30 each day.

Bubbletecture is open around the clock and free to the public, with security and support staff on site throughout the exhibition period.

As well as admiring the installation, visitors will be able to take part in a diverse line-up of free cultural and wellbeing events each weekend. You can find our full events guide HERE.

Family fun day

A local non-profit organisation supporting cultural diversity will be hosting a family fun day this Sunday to celebrate Caribbean and African music.

Local DJs, face painting, food and family games will all be at the event at Howard Davis Park from 14:00 to 22:00 on Sunday 31 August.

Up-There music festival

Out-There music festival has been rebranded as Up-There after moving from St Ouen to the Royal Jersey Showground in Trinty.

The electronic music event, which is headlined by Clementine Douglas and TSHA, will take place for one day this weekend on Saturday 30 August.

The event runs from 15:30 to 23:00, with last entry at 18:00.
