Every week, Express presents a selection of exhibitions, performances, workshops, events and other historic, creative and delicious content to help islanders get their weekly dose of culture.
Here’s this week’s offering…
Winter Warblers
Islanders are invited to join a guided bird walk this weekend at Hamptonne Country Life Museum.

The ‘Winter Warblers’ walk will feature feathered friends that make Jersey their winter home.
The event will begin from 1pm on Sunday 11 January with a warming cup of soup, followed by a guided walk around the grounds.
Walkers can warm up with a hot chocolate in the Cider Barn afterwards.
Hamptonne’s café will be open as usual throughout the day for those who would like to purchase additional refreshments.
Attendees are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear for a winter walk, and be prepared for uneven ground and steps. The event is expected to finish at 3pm.
Tickets cost £12 for adults and £6 for children, with those under the age of six going free.
Jersey Heritage members are also eligible for a 10% discount.

The Battle of Jersey

Islanders can step back in time to one of Jersey’s most important moments in history at the annual Battle of Jersey commemorations this weekend.
The event is due to take place in the Royal Square from midday on Saturday 10 January.
It will include a musket fire from the 1781 Jersey Militia, a short service, and a reenactment of the famous scene captured in The Death of Major Peirson painting.
A wreath-laying ceremony will also be held at Major Peirson’s resting place at the Town Church.
Refreshments will be available at the United Club from 1pm, offering a chance to warm up after the ceremony.
The event is free to attend, with more information available here.
D’Artagnan and the Three Centeniers

A fun-filled family pantomime inspired by The Three Musketeers is being performed at the Jersey Arts Centre this week – featuring daring heroes, dastardly villains, a shark-infested bath, a magnificent horse, and even a spotty dinosaur.
D’Artagnan and the Three Centeniers is running until Sunday 18 January.
This lively pantomime transports audiences to 17th-century France, and promises audiences “adventure, laughter and swordplay”.
A relaxed performance will take place at 10.30am on Sunday 11 January, and a British Sign Language interpreted performance will be held at 7.30pm on Friday 16 January.
Tickets are £20 for adults, £17 for seniors, and £15 for children.
Islanders can find out more information about the show and purchase tickets here.
Two-day Rag Trade

Pre-loved treasures will be available free of charge at a community pop-up this weekend.
The Rag Trade will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 January from 9am to 3pm at the Old Magistrates’ Court on Seale Street.
The event offers free vintage and gently-used clothes, as well as household items.
Everything is free of charge, with the goal of reducing waste and promoting sustainability.
Visitors are encouraged to bring along items they would like to pass on and enjoy browsing for hidden gems – all while helping the planet.
