The first professional pantomime of the newly refurbished Jersey Opera House has been confirmed as Jack and the Beanstalk – and locals are being sought to help out.
Taking place between 18 December 2026 and 3 January 2027, the production is being co-produced with Evolution Productions – five-time winners of Pantomime of the Year at the UK Pantomime Awards.
Audiences have been told to “expect a spectacular, family-friendly show packed with music, comedy and theatrical magic”.
Sebastian Warrack, chief executive of the Jersey Opera House, said: “Bringing a professional pantomime to Jersey Opera House for the first time is incredibly exciting and marks another important step in our future.
“Pantomime is a much-loved theatrical tradition, and working with Evolution Productions allows us to deliver something truly special for Island audiences, while also creating meaningful professional opportunities for local performers.”
Rebecca Stanier, programme manager of the Jersey Opera House, added: “When planning our Christmas programme, it was important to broaden the range of work that audiences can enjoy at the Opera House. Jack and the Beanstalk introduces a large-scale professional pantomime to our festive season.
“Pantomime presents a first theatrical experience for so many; introducing this will offer a high-quality theatrical experience to all audiences during one of the busiest times of year. We hope it will become a new festive tradition for many.”
While a UK company will be taking the lead, the pantomime will still involve local young performers, cast members, and technical staff; however, it will still be a fully professional production.
Auditions will be advertised later in the year.
