This creamy ‘Festive Rose’ concoction has been whipped up by Bohemia using Lanique, a 200-year-old drink once enjoyed by kings, queens and Emperors that was revived in recent years by owner Lawrence Huggler.

The liquor is made by steam-distilling thousands of hand-picked rose petals to extract the Attar of Rose, which is worth more per kilo than gold.

Well, it’s often said we must learn from the past for our future prosperity. Here’s to a rosier 2021…

What you need…

25ml orange juice

25ml apple juice

75ml Lanique Spirit of Rose

5ml cinnamon syrup

10ml ginger syrup

20ml lemon juice

1 egg white

How to make it…

1. Put all ingredients in a cocktail shaker (but no ice yet) and shake well for five seconds.

2. Add ice and shake again for 15 to 30 seconds to create a lovely creamy finish.

3. Double strain the cocktail into a Martini glass.

4. Add a dash of cinnamon powder and a sprinkling of dried rose petals on top.
