A neurodiverse teacher has thanked islanders for their generosity after his successful fundraising challenge – which saw him complete seven marathon-length runs in seven days – helped a local charity’s sport, fitness and wellbeing event take place earlier this month.
James Hadley-Piggin, who teaches English at De La Salle College, completed runs in England, Wales, Guernsey, Sark, and Jersey in August 2025 in support of AllMatters Neurodiverse, which aims to promote understanding and awareness of neurodiversity in the island.

The money raised from the challenge went towards a ‘Breaking Barriers’ event that was recently held by the charity at the Royal Jersey Showground.
James, who has dyspraxia – a developmental co-ordination disorder – and has also been diagnosed with ADHD and ASD, said: “I am humbled and am incredibly grateful for all the support.
“The ‘Breaking Barriers’ event wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of the people.”
He explained that, after seeing the positive impact running had on his life as a neurodivergent individual, he wanted to give something back to the community “and show that anything is possible no matter who you are or what condition you might have”.
“I had wanted to do this event for the last three years,” he said.
