A neurodivergent teacher who will soon attempt to complete seven marathon-length runs in seven days – as he seeks to inspire other neurodiverse young people while raising money for charity – has surpassed his fundraising target.

James Hadley-Piggin, who teaches English at De La Salle College, is preparing to embark on runs in England, Wales, Guernsey, Sark, and Jersey later this month.

James has dyspraxia – a developmental co-ordination disorder – and has also been diagnosed with ADHD and ASD.

I won’t stop fighting until neurodiversity is fully accepted and understood across the world

James Hadley-Piggin

He is fundraising for AllMatters Neurodiverse, which aims to promote understanding and awareness of neurodiversity.

His online fundraiser has so far raised over £2,100 – surpassing its £2,000 target.

James said: “This challenge has taught me to fight for what you believe in.

“I won’t stop fighting until neurodiversity is fully accepted and understood across the world.”

Despite being “touch and go” at times due to injury, James’s preparation has involved a tough mix of strength training, crossfit, sea swimming and running.

He is set to begin his challenge on 18 August.
