A neurodivergent teacher yesterday finished a gruelling fundraising challenge which saw him complete seven marathon-length runs in seven days – and raise over £3,000 for charity.
James Hadley-Piggin, who teaches English at De La Salle College, completed his seventh marathon of the week yesterday.
He ran the Jersey Marathon route for the final leg of the challenge, but other runs took place across England, Wales, Guernsey, and Sark throughout the week.
“What an amazing way to finish, completing the Jersey Marathon route with a group of amazing friends,” said James.
“Thank you so much to everyone who came out to support me and make this a truly humbling and special experience.”
James has dyspraxia – a developmental co-ordination disorder – and has also been diagnosed with ADHD and ASD.
He has raised £3,350 for AllMatters Neurodiverse, a charity that aims to promote understanding and awareness of neurodiversity.
The funds raised have contributed towards the creation of a ‘Breaking Barriers’ event, which is taking place on Sunday 14 September at FB Fields in St Clements.
The event is aimed at encouraging more neurodiverse young people to get involved in sport and fitness – an area that has had a “transformative impact” on James’ life.
