An islander who spent three weeks sleeping under the stars to raise money for an organisation that supports people with ADHD is calling on supporters to re-send their donations – after more than £2,300 was refunded due to an admin error that he says shows exactly what life with ADHD can be like…

Will Crawford, who completed the 21-day challenge to support ADHD Jersey, raised thousands before the fundraising page automatically closed and returned the donations to senders because he forgot to link his JustGiving page to a bank account.

“So… funny story,” he wrote on social media. “I set up a fundraiser for ADHD Jersey (which loads of you kindly supported, thank you!), but in true ADHD fashion, I forgot to link it to a bank account before the page closed. The money didn’t go to ADHD Jersey, it got refunded.”

He added: “Not ideal, but also kind of the perfect example of what life with ADHD can be like: big ideas, big effort… and the occasional admin hiccup.”

Mr Crawford thanked supporters and said the incident was part of the reality of living with the condition.

“Thanks for understanding and for backing a cause that supports people just like me,” he wrote.

ADHD Jersey added:  “Bare Wills… took on a challenge to raise funds for ADHD Jersey. He smashed it. Raised loads. Got people talking. We were buzzing,”

“But… in classic ADHD style, one crucial step was missed: linking the JustGiving page to a bank account. So when the page closed, the funds disappeared back to the donors instead of coming to us.”

“This is a big hit,” they added. “Now, some might call that a mistake. We call it real life with ADHD, or horrible ADHD tax. It wasn’t careless. It wasn’t deliberate. It’s just how our brains sometimes work: fast, passionate, focused on the mission, and occasionally missing a fine print checkbox.”

Founder Rachel Tippet added: “This is an important example of why awareness and understanding of ADHD is so important,” she said. “Let’s try and turn this around for the legend that is Bare Wills.”
