A conference is being held next week to discuss the current state of healthcare in Jersey and what islanders envision for the future of the healthcare system.
The Friends of Our New Hospital are holding the ‘Let’s Talk about Healthcare’ conference at the Town Hall on Thursday 23 April from 6pm to 8pm.
According to organisers, the conference has been timed to coincide with the start of the election period in order to focus attention on healthcare as an “important political issue”.
All islanders are welcome to the conference, which is free of charge. It will be moderated by Friends of Our New Hospital chair, Mary Venturini.
She said: “Healthcare is critical to us all and it needs to be top of the political agenda in the forthcoming election.
“The conference will focus on the current status of healthcare and what we would like our healthcare to look like in the future.
“We have expert speakers, covering all aspects of healthcare in the island, to help us answer this and other critical questions.”
Presenters will include Health and Care Partnership Board chair Rosemarie Finley, mental-health director Andy Weir, consultant surgeon Susan Clark, and Friends of Our New Hospital members Graham Bisson and Peter Funk.
The Friends of Our New Hospital group was started by the late Sir Nigel Broomfield in 2017 to act as an independent source of information, commentary and advice on local healthcare and, in particular, the development of the new hospital.
