Callisthenics equipment, pétanque courts and new benches will be installed at Marina Gardens at the Waterfront, if a planning application is approved.

The States of Jersey Development Company has lodged an application to install new benches, two pétanque areas, and outdoor fitness equipment within the hard landscape platforms around the green.

These “modest but meaningful enhancements” are “aimed at improving the quality, usability, and inclusivity of this valued public open space”, according to the application.

The proposed benches will provide durable and weather-resistant seating, whilst the two compacted-aggregate pétanque terrains will be “positioned to avoid conflict with pedestrian routes”.

The outdoor fitness structures will feature pull-up bars, parallel bars, and step platforms installed on safety surfacing.

A document supporting the application said: “The pétanque terrain and callisthenics equipment promote physical activity.

“Benches improve accessibility for older residents and those with mobility needs.”

It added: “It represents a positive, low-impact enhancement to an important public green space in St Helier, delivering meaningful social, recreational, and wellbeing benefits.”
