Do your friends roll their eyes every time you grab the karaoke mic on a night out? Well, now you can finally put those singing skills to good use – and raise money while you’re at it.

A brand-new island-wide karaoke showdown is set to turn Jersey’s pubs into musical battlegrounds this summer in support of ADHD Jersey.

Created by DJ and host Duncan Prince, better known as “Dunk the Funk”, the Battle of the Parishes will see brave (and possibly slightly overconfident) singers compete across five heats, two semi-finals and one grand final for ultimate karaoke glory.

The sing-off will take over seven venues across the island, including St Mary’s Country Inn, St John’s Inn, St Lawrence Pub, The Bagot Inn, The Pembroke, Tiki Hut and The Trafalgar – meaning nowhere is safe from an unexpected rendition of Mr Brightside.

The competition kicks off on 17 July, with semi-finals at The Bagot Inn on 14 August and Tiki Hut on 16 August, before the grand finale at Tiki Hut on 30 August.

With planned television and radio coverage also in the works, organisers hope the event will also give Jersey’s hospitality scene a boost.

“This is about bringing people together, giving local talent a platform, and creating something the whole island can get behind,” said Mr Prince.

The event is sponsored by local medical cannabis clinic Medicann.
