A total of 24 Scouts aged between 10 and 14, along with five adult volunteers, will play a real-life version of the classic board game using streets and landmarks in central London.

More than 8,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the United Kingdom and the Channel Islands will participate in ‘Monopoly Run Live’, which uses a custom-built app with geolocation check-ins.

The aim of the game is to purchase as many iconic properties as possible, collect rent, and play mini-games throughout the day.

Scout leader Hayley Dewar, who has been involved with the organisation since 1995, said: “It is a good opportunity to develop navigation skills and map reading, reinforcing the Scout programme and badge award, while giving young people the opportunity to get off-island, which they might not otherwise have.

“It will also encourage friendships to form across different Scout groups”.

In order to fund the trip, members of the 3rd Jersey (St Saviour) Scout Group, 6th Jersey Scout Group (St Mary), and the 9th Jersey Scout Group (Georgetown) worked together to create and sell over 200 DIY pizza boxes.
