The final steps in Jersey’s covid ‘reconnection’ plan have been pushed back several times, meaning that stand-up drinking at local pubs and bars showing the matches is still not allowed.
The local police force is prepared ahead of the game, which could see a number of islanders visit local pubs to catch the action.
“We have additional resources in place to manage any associated disorder that may arise as a result of the Euros,” a spokesperson said.
“We also continue to work with our partners and will respond if appropriate to any covid-related challenges that may also be linked.”

Some islanders had reported busy pubs with stand-up drinking taking place against current covid rules on social media following earlier Euros matches. At England’s last game, one person reported being at a pub with more than 100 other people where physical distancing rules were broken as individuals celebrated the team’s victory.
However, Public Health officials told Express that they thought compliance with covid restrictions across local hospitality premises in recent weeks had been “outstanding”.
They acknowledged there may be “pinch points”, but added: “We continue to work with businesses to minimise that. We have never seen wholesale dereliction of responsibility.”
