The road traffic collision happened on La Grande Route de St. Jean around 02:30 in the early hours of Saturday.

Police said the pedestrian had been crossing the road near St. Helier Parish Nurseries when he was knocked to the ground by a silver Toyota Prius taxi.

The taxi then fled the scene before Police and an ambulance arrived. However, it then returned “a short while later” and the driver was spoken to.
