For every tin, bag or bone, the Co-op will donate 5% of the profit to the animal charity this November and December.
It comes after the JSPCA issued an SOS – ‘Save Our Shelter’ – call earlier this month.
The charity needs around £1million each year to continue providing its life-saving services to local animals and wildlife. However, at the beginning of this year, its accounts showed debts close to that figure.

The Co-op hopes that their campaign will make a difference.
Co-op CEO Colin Macleod commented: “Our vision is to make a real difference to the communities we serve, which is something the JSPCA has been doing for the past 150 years. As a locally-owned business where many of our members have family pets, we wanted to help the JSPCA continue the tremendous work they do.
“So throughout the months of November and December, we’ll be donating 5% of the profit from the sales of pet food purchased at our stores to the JSPCA.”

JSPCA’s Babs Keywood said that the charity were “so grateful to the society and their many animal loving customers for this generous gesture.”
She added: “Members of the society can help even more by quoting our share number 315618 so dividend earned on their purchases can also go towards this appeal.”
