A “symbol of Andalusia’s maritime heritage” is heading towards the island in the form of a replica 17th-century Spanish galleon.

Galeón Andalucía will arrive in Jersey next week as part of its wider 2026 tour.

It is not the first time the historic ship has appeared in the island, having previously visited for the Jersey Boat Show.

Tickets to go on board are available online, with Galeón Andalucía due to be at the Albert Pier from 20 to 25 May with opening hours of 10am to 8pm each day.

Organisers stated: “During this 2026 tour, the Galeón Andalucía will showcase Andalusia as a tourist destination.

“This ship is a symbol of Andalusia’s maritime heritage and of Andalusian culture in its broadest sense.”

The replica showcases the type of vessel used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions during the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries.

The armed merchant vessels had tonnages ranging from 500 to 1,200 while their overall lengths would range from 130 to 200 feet.
