Department store de Gruchy is encouraging islanders to donate new and unused beauty products for women being supported by charity Freeda.

Freeda, formerly Jersey Women’s Refuge, supports those affected by domestic abuse.

September is national self-care awareness month, which inspired the retailer to partner with the charity and emphasise the importance of wellbeing, aiming to provide small luxuries to residents living in the safehouse.

De Gruchy are accepting drop-offs of beauty products including skincare, fragrance, cosmetics and self-care items at the concierge desk, on the ground floor of the store.

Simon Youden, Store Director at de Gruchy said: “Self-care is about more than products, it’s about giving people the chance to feel valued, confident and supported.

“This appeal is a simple but meaningful way for islanders to help the women Freeda supports and we’re proud to provide a platform that makes it easy for our community to get involved.”

Kate Wright, CEO of Freeda, said: “At Freeda, we see how something as simple as a small act of kindness can make a huge difference for women finding their confidence again.

“This beautiful initiative with de Gruchy is more than just about self-care products. It’s a reminder to the women we support that their community cares for them and wants them to feel valued.

We’re very grateful to de Gruchy for helping our community come together to support Freeda.”
